As students continue to access the online space at younger ages, the internet and all things digital are now an integral part of their lives.  This workshop encourages students to start thinking critically about the online space.  It teaches students the essentials of staying safe in an online world and the skills to use technology in a safe and responsible way.  The workshop is specifically designed for primary school  students with modifications in content made to ensure the appropriateness of interactive activities and learning material. This workshop represents the beginning of the students learning on the topic of Digital Citizenship.

Upon completion of this workshop students will be able to:

  • Recognise the positive and negative aspects of Internet Use
  • Know what Personal Information is and the importance of keeping this private
  • Understand the importance of Password Protection
  • Recognise who is a Trusted Adult
  • Understand the dangers of Chatting to Strangers online

How is this workshop delivered?

This 1-hour workshop is delivered in class by our trained facilitators.  It is delivered as part of a two-hour workshop package whereby schools can pick a minimum of two topics from the following list or run the same workshop to a minimum of two class groups:

  • Fundamentals of Online Safety
  • My Digital Footprint
  • Stranger Danger
  • Cyberbullying
  • Safe Social Networking

The learning materials include a presentation, interactive worksheets and other materials.
