AI for Smarter Teaching

Using Artificial Intelligence with Confidence

Artificial Intelligence is rapidly changing education, offering teachers new ways to plan, create, adapt and deliver learning. But with so many AI tools now available, it can be difficult to know where to begin, what to trust and how to use them appropriately.

REIM’s AI for Smarter Teaching Workshop gives teachers and education professionals a practical introduction to using AI confidently and responsibly in the classroom.

Rather than focusing on the technology behind AI, this workshop explores how it can be used in everyday teaching. Participants will discover practical tools, try useful techniques and explore how AI can help reduce workload, generate ideas and create engaging learning resources, while understanding its limitations and potential risks.

What the Workshop Covers

Understanding AI in Education

Participants will develop a clear understanding of what Artificial Intelligence is, how generative AI works and the ways it is already being used within education.

AI Tools for Teacher Productivity

The workshop explores practical ways AI can support everyday tasks, including generating ideas, summarising information, drafting communications and helping with administrative workload.

Lesson Planning & Resource Creation

Participants will discover how AI can assist with lesson ideas, activities, quizzes, discussion questions, worksheets and other classroom resources.

Creating & Adapting Learning Materials

Teachers will explore how AI can help adapt existing materials for different ages, abilities and learning needs, providing a useful starting point for differentiated learning.

Getting Better Results from AI

Participants will learn how to write effective prompts, refine AI-generated responses and provide the right instructions and context to produce more useful results.

Responsible & Safe AI Use

The workshop considers important issues including privacy, data protection, copyright, bias and the need to avoid entering sensitive or personal information into inappropriate AI tools.

Recognising AI Limitations

AI doesn’t always get things right. Participants will explore inaccurate or misleading AI-generated content, including misinformation and fabricated information, and understand why human judgement and fact-checking remain essential.

AI Opportunities & Risks

Teachers will consider the wider opportunities AI creates for education alongside challenges such as student use of AI, academic integrity, over-reliance and changing approaches to learning and assessment.

By the End of the Workshop

Participants will:

  • Have a clearer understanding of AI and its role within education.
  • Feel more confident using AI tools in their everyday work.
  • Know how AI can support lesson planning and resource creation.
  • Be able to write more effective prompts and refine AI responses.
  • Understand how AI can help adapt learning materials for different needs.
  • Recognise the limitations of AI-generated information and the importance of checking accuracy.
