Digital Wellbeing Workshop

Supporting Healthy Technology Habits

Technology plays an important role in children and young people’s lives. It provides opportunities to learn, connect, communicate and have fun, but navigating an always-connected world can also bring challenges for sleep, concentration, relationships and emotional wellbeing.

REIM’s Digital Wellbeing Workshop helps parents, carers and professionals better understand the relationship between technology and wellbeing and recognise when a young person’s digital habits may be having a negative impact.

Rather than focusing simply on reducing screen time, the workshop explores how we can help young people develop a healthy, balanced and positive relationship with technology.

What the Workshop Covers

Understanding Digital Wellbeing

Participants will explore what digital wellbeing means and how technology can have both positive and negative influences on children and young people.

Screen Time & Digital Habits

We look beyond simply counting hours online to consider how, when and why technology is being used, helping adults identify habits that may be affecting everyday life.

Technology & Mental Wellbeing

The workshop explores how online experiences can influence mood, anxiety, self-esteem, body image and confidence, including the impact of comparison and online validation.

Sleep, Focus & Digital Distractions

Participants will consider how notifications, late-night device use and constant connectivity can affect sleep, concentration and learning, alongside practical strategies for creating healthier routines.

Social Media & Online Influences

We explore how social media, influencers, algorithms and online content can shape attitudes, expectations and behaviours, helping adults start meaningful conversations with young people about what they see online.

Creating Healthy Boundaries

Participants will gain practical ideas for establishing realistic boundaries around devices, gaming and social media while encouraging young people to gradually take greater responsibility for their own digital habits.

Balancing Online & Offline Life

The workshop considers the importance of maintaining friendships, physical activity, hobbies, family time, sleep and other offline experiences alongside technology use.

Recognising When Support May Be Needed

Participants will learn to recognise changes in behaviour or digital habits that could indicate a young person may be struggling and understand how to start a supportive conversation.
