This course prepares participants who want to sit the Python Institute’s PCEP-30-02 exam.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course participants will be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge of the standard concepts of computer programming, the syntax, and semantics of the Python language as well as the ability to solve implementation problems using the Python Standard Library.  Upon completion of this course learners will:

  • Be familiar with fundamental Python terms and definitions such as compilation versus interpretation
  • Understand Pythons logic and structure (e.g. keywords, instructions, indentation)
  • Understand literals, variables, and numeral systems, operators and data types, I/O operations, control flow mechanisms
  • Be familiar with the concept of data collections (lists, tuples, dictionaries, strings)
  • Understand functions and exceptions
  • Have a basic understanding of Python programming language, syntax, semantics and the runtime environment


Participants of this course do not require any previous experience of computer coding. Learners should have an interest in coding or computer programming and a desire to develop a career in this field. In this course you will learn the fundamental concepts of Python such as data types, operators, functions, and basic Python’s internals.
