The prevalence of explicit pornographic material online is causing concern amongst many organisations who deal with the victims and perpetrators of sexual violence. This workshop educates students as to the dangers of excessive viewing of pornography and highlights the difficulties which can occur in relationships when the line between reality and fantasy gets blurred.

Upon completion of this workshop students will:

  • Be better at critically assessing pornographic material
  • Understand the problematic messages about safe sex, consent, body image and gender roles portrayed by pornography
  • Know that pornography is not typically representative of real life
  • Understand the meaning of consent
  • Understand the key aspects of a healthy relationship
  • Know what to do when the encounter content that they find upsetting online
  • Know that its normal to feel curious about sex and online sexual content
  • Know where to go to get accurate information

How is this workshop delivered?

We recommend a maximum of 60 students for each workshop to ensure that each student gains the maximum benefit from the workshop. This topic (Pornography) will take a minimum of 45 minutes. It is delivered as part of a workshop package whereby schools book a minimum of 3 x 90 minute workshops (across the same year group or several year groups).   Schools must choose a minimum of two workshop topics from the list below:

  • Cyberbullying
  • Nude Image Sharing
  • Digital Literacy
  • Digital Wellbeing
  • Gaming
  • Pornography
  • Online Predators

The workshops are facilitated through presentations and interactive exercises to ensure that the students remain engaged throughout. Content is modified to be meet the age requirements of varying year groups.
